So this picture is more than a year old. I forced the boy to clean up after a busy day last summer, when he had recently turned eleven. He grumbled. We swiped the hat from his buddy, Kellen, because I loved the colors in it. And then we drove around town, and I would stop and make the boy grin for the camera here and there and everywhere.
You can imagine the heights of his excitement, because OH! The boy is not a fan of the photo shoot. I don’t know what has happened to the Y chromosome that makes boys loathe being in front of the camera in clean clothes, but scientists should study it.
But this picture? Well, I love it. And even though it’s a whole year old now, I still thought I’d share it.
Because this picture? When it was taken?
WE WERE STILL HEADING INTO ANOTHER YEAR OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. And not into JUNIOR STINKING HIGH.
And then here’s a couple snapshots of Thing 2 that I took last week, on the only day during this whole summer when it was ACTUALLY CHILLY. One day the clouds came in, the rain came down, the wind blew sideways, and we all wore jeans and long sleeves and jackets and took us a well-deserved break from the sweltering heat we had endured all summer long. And Hubs came home and wanted a pot of chili for dinner.
(Oh, Fall. We are so looking forward to your arrival!)
